Grow to Give
Plant what you can. Support your Community
Grow to Give invites community gardeners across Dufferin County to take part in a flexible, community‑led growing season that supports local families facing food insecurity. Backyard gardens, balcony pots, and community plots all play a role.
We are offering a limited selection of free seeds and asking growers to let us know what they would like to plant. Participants are encouraged to grow as much or as little as they choose, based on their available space, time, and capacity.
Available Seeds
Participants may request one or more of the following seeds:
- Red bush beans
- Ginger
- Scotch Bonnet Peppers
- Buttercup Heritage Squash
Seeds are available while supplies last.
How It Works
Grow to Give is designed to be flexible, accessible, and realistic for everyday life.
- Choose your seeds – Select what works best for your space and schedule.
- Grow what you can – There is no minimum requirement or expectation.
- Give your harvest – Donated produce supports local families across Dufferin County.
Every contribution matters, whether it is one plant or a full garden bed.
Who Can Participate
Not everyone grows the same way... and that’s exactly the point.
Grow to Give welcomes:
- First‑time and experienced gardeners
- Balcony and container growers
- Backyard and community garden plots
Participation is entirely based on what works for you. Grow what you can, when you can, and help strengthen community food security.
Getting Started
To help us prepare and distribute seeds fairly, all interested gardeners are asked to complete a short form.
